This webinar will present how a Protected Cell Captive (PCC) can be used to create a cost effective use of capital, stream line set up and implementation of the captive business plan. Presentations shall include an actual user of a PCC, the benefits of using Vermont as a domicile for the PCC and the step-by step process of organizing a protected or incorporated cell.

The webinar is suitable for anyone interested in establishing a captive program and considering a cell rather than a standalone captive, as well anyone looking to understand the benefits of PCCs.

Presenters:
Lawrence Cook, Vice President, Cornerstone Risk Solutions (an IMA subsidiary) – Lawrence Cook began working in the insurance industry in 1982 and brings diverse program, captive and alternative risk financing experience to IMA as Vice President of Business Development and Carrier Relations. He previously worked with Travelers/Discover Re, ACE Captive Solutions, Risk Design Group and Arch Insurance Company/First American Insurance Company. He has also held several positions at TIG Insurance and was President of Drayton Company Ltd. (a Bermuda association captive) and Drayton Risk Retention Group, Ltd. (a Vermont Risk Retention Group). Lawrence holds a bachelor’s degree from Adrian College.



William D. Riley, Director, Paul, Frank & Collins – William Riley plays a leading role in the captive insurance industry in Vermont. Bill advises captive insurance clients on legal and regulatory issues associated with entity structures; governance; insurance programs; policy drafting; and various insurance, reinsurance and alternative risk transactions, including loss portfolio transfers, contract novations, mergers, and redomestications. His clients include pure, group and protected cell captives.

Patrick Theriault, Managing Director, Strategic Risk Solutions – Patrick is responsible for the firm’s captive management activities in the mid-Atlantic region and south eastern United States. He has over fifteen years of experience in captive management, insurance accounting, and consulting services. In this role he oversees the operations of SRS’s offices in South Carolina, Tennessee and Washington D.C. In addition, Patrick provides assistance to the SRS consulting group with captive implementation projects and oversight of the SRS reinsurance facility Outer Banks Risk Solutions, Inc.

Christopher Kramer, Managing Director, Green Mountain Sponsored Captive Insurance Company, Inc (Moderator) – Chris leads Green Mountain’s plans to develop and execute the Company’s strategic plans including alternative risk strategies and captives, including both commercial and employee benefit lines. Chris’s career spans over 30 years and is credited with the creation of a number of captives, risk retention groups and start up profit centers for private and public enterprises. Before Chris joined Green Mountain, his experience included working with several captive management firms and for XL Capital (Bermuda) and FM Global in supervisory, underwriting and management roles.
